AC Repair Install New Hi Pressure Switch
I was previously out on a no air conditioning service call. The hi pressure switch shut the unit down. The hi pressure safety switch failed preventing the AC from turning on. The existing switch is brazed in. To replace would be 3+ hours of labor for my customer. Therefore I decided to install a new external hi pressure switch onto this AC condensing unit.

Difficult Boiler Leak Repair & Circulator Pump Replacement
Переглядів 1,8 тис.4 місяці тому
I did a hot water boiler service call the previous nite. On that call the inducer motor was stuck, I was able to oil it and get it to work. Nothing came apart easy. Rusted bolts breaking apart needing...

    Like the tech/teach. Why have the second magnehelic hose attached at all or in the mud? What is the reason that Kohler has two lines connected near where leaves and bugs would come through, rather than a large loop up and facing back to the base in a u fashion? Thanks Reed

      Yes all along the bottom of the condenser. If wet dirt/ mulch accumulates and buried compressor. It can rot the metal on the condenser or lead to coil rot

      @rv10flyer84 10 днів тому

      Maybe you need to replay the video. did you not see the rug covering the condenser. He said he was returning to put on an external high-pressure switch. That probably means the internal high-pressure switch went bad because it was short cycling on the high-pressure switch due to the rug covering the outdoor coil.

    • @MoellerEngineeringCo.
      @MoellerEngineeringCo. 10 днів тому

      @@rv10flyer84 I assumed he cleaned it. This must be a quick fix until he gets the coil cleaned.

    • @rv10flyer84
      @rv10flyer84 10 днів тому

      @@MoellerEngineeringCo. in the end of the video he shows the coil, it’s clean as a whistle. He cleaned it, probably bypassed the internal pressure switch until the return trip and then put the one external, so that it would have protection again. We don’t like standing on our heads to remove a bad pressure switch that was brazed in by manufacture, taking shortcuts instead of putting a service port with a Schrader core in it. I’ve done exactly the same process as he did several times over the past 30 years.

    • @thehvachacker
      @thehvachacker 9 днів тому

      The condenser was filthy. With temps being mid 90’s all week, I cleaned the coil and tested the system with the hi pressure switch removed from the circuit. It was stuck open. I should have filmed the first trip out. York brazes the switch inside the condenser. Which becomes a labor intensive job. I offered both options, i recommended this was the best path to take. I try to be respectful of my customers money. These access tees are used for many different applications. Very handy to have.

    How does the thermostat trigger the coil for AC in the same way it does the furnace for heat? I've watched dozens of videos and don't see an electronic connection between the furnace and coil. Just a home owner on the verge of possibly replacing my entire system.

    • @thehvachacker
      @thehvachacker 10 днів тому

      Most coils don’t have electric controls. The fan from furnace and the condenser does all the work. The coil is a heat exchanger.

    • @thehvachacker
      @thehvachacker 10 днів тому

      Not for an evaporator replacement. It’s considered a repair. Only need permits for system replacements. Then the system needs mechanical, electric, and plumbing inspections in most towns.

    Proper way to fill the battery is to add distilled water to just below the level gauge. If filled to or above these, the electrolyte can wick out and cause a conductive moisture on top of the battery. Then corrosion begins to build up. Pro Tip: A clean and moisture free battery top will never corrode.

    i currently have a very slow leak on my low pressure switch. was quoted $708 to replace it (June '24) from a quite reputable dealer here in my area. i said to the tech, "get outt'a here. that can't be that much." he said, "no really, that's what it costs." then, i said to him, "you are misunderstanding me. i said to get outt'a here. that means...pick up all your shit, put it away, clean up, get in your brand new company truck, and get the F outt'a here." i'm sorry, but i don't care good or reputable the person is who is performing the replacement... i don't even care if you can actually walk on water and your name on your birth certificate is 'AC Jesus Christ!'... there is no way on planet earth that a $30 pressure switch replacement should cost $708. I get it... evacuate the lines / save the R410a that's in the system, torch the old switch off, solder the new one on, pull vacuum to confirm good repair, and recharge the system. 1 person for maybe 2 hours total. $325 is what it should cost plus the cost of topping up any lost refrigerant. all you AC companies and techs out there charging this ridiculous amount of money can just go.suck.an.egg. #yousuck #thief #gotohell
